Monday, Monday

Why do we always seem to start "diets" on Mondays? Since Monday is probably one of the more stressful days of the week, you'd think we'd be smart and start our diets on a different day. But nooooo....

So today was my starting weigh-in and the first day on the DTG meal plan. Overall, I was pretty happy with today's choices. Wild Cherry Muffin tasted more like Maraschino (sp?) cherries than Bing cherries (which I prefer), but it did hit the spot with my growling stomach this morning. And the apple butter that came with the muffin was quite good. I had my orange as a mid-morning snack and I was definitely needing it when I ate it, my stomach was rumbling like crazy.

The lunch item, Bistro Chicken Salad, was REALLY good. I heated the pre-thawed dish in the microwave for a couple of minutes and had a nice hearty lunch. Very tasty!

Dinner was the BBQ Chicken and I was quite satisfied with that as well. I received a small chicken breast, a good number of fresh green beans, some red potatoes (gotta love those red potatoes), and some pork n' beans without the pork. I ate it slow and savored the flavors and it kept me pretty full all evening.

However, around 10pm or so, I started getting quite hungry again, so I added in a Light Yoplait yogurt I had in the fridge. Total calories for the day including the added yogurt, 1266.

Monday is also one of my workout days at the gym. So I did 42 minutes on the elliptical machine for a total of 402 calories burned (according to the machine). I used the interval training setting so it varied from difficult to semi-difficult every two minutes. After the elliptical, I did about 20 minutes of additional upper body weight training using the weight machines.

So overall, a good day. :)

Hi Vicki,

I can relate to most of what you’re feeling and what you are going through.
I was lost and had no direction or idea as to how and lose weight and turn this around
I still have a long journey ahead of me, however I feel so much better losing 49 ½ pounds to date using Diet-to-Go and Sport & Health. I really look forward to the meals.
One thing for sure, you are way ahead of the curve by already exercising.
I believe you’ll find the Diet-to-Go meals an answer to your last chance on dieting.
I’ve tried most diets, and was considering lap band. I’ve heard too many bad stories about bypasses and lap bands. I guess when they work they work, when they don’t they don’t. I really like Diet-to-Go because it takes the thinking out of the equation. I see you selected the lower calorie diet, are you content with that amount of food?
When my wife joined Diet-to-Go the rule of thumb Diet-to-Go used was if you’re a woman and over 200 pounds use the 1600 calories, when you get under 200 pounds and weight loss slows down go to the 1200 calorie menu. I was just wondering if that’s why you might be experiencing hunger in the evening. I think you’ll also find it easier with your husband on it as well. Best of luck to you and your husband on this lifestyle change journey we’re all on together.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the info regarding DTG's guidelines for the meal plans. I sort of purposefully did the 1200 cal one so I had a little wiggle room in case I wanted a late night snack. That's usually the time of the day when the munchies REALLY hit me hard and so that way, if I decide to have a snack, it won't throw me off course too much. :)
